Our 2012 Goal

is to

donate a 1,000 hats to NICU

With every hat you purchase, belle + sebastien will donate a hat to a NICU or like minded charity, who will distribute the hats within Canada, the US and abroad.

Why do we donate hats?

Preemies have far more medical needs and less ability to regulate their heat. Hats are essential in helping keep preemies warm and increasing their chances of healthy development. Hospitals are in need of preemie hats and clothing both in NICU and for parents to take home.

The highest preterm birth rates in the world are found in Africa, followed by North America (United States and Canada combined). An estimated 13 million babies worldwide were born preterm - defined as birth at less than 37 full weeks of gestation, last year. That is almost 10 percent of total births worldwide.

Since starting belle + sebastien, we always seem to have extra balls of yarn here and there. Never enough yarn to make a kid’s hat but the perfect amount to make a preemie hat.

Each month we match and donate every hat sold on our website with a handmade preemie hat to a NICU.
